

HPN's primary area of operation is in the city of Chingola, which is a major urban center in in Zambia's mineral rich Copperbelt Province, which Borders the Democratic Republic of the Congo on the north, approximately 300 miles North of Lusaka. It has a population of 260k to 290k people. Total population of the Copperbelt is ~2.7 million.
The capital, Lusaka, located in Lusaka province, has a population of 2.7-2.9 million. In the Copperbelt province, Kitwe has a population of 600-700k, followed closely by Ndola at about 650k.
Zambia is a country located in south cental Africa. At approximately 290,000 square miles, Zambia is 10% larger than Texas and nearly three times the size of the United Kingdom.
Formerly a British colony, the Republic of Zambia gained independence on Oct 24, 1964. Zambia has maintained relative political stability compared to other countries in the region.
The median age is 17-18 years old, with 65% of the population under 24, and 45% below the age of 14.
Temperatures are moderated by elevation, but in general it maintains a tropical savanna climate, with rainfall in the Northern Provences and ranging from 36 to 50" per year, with dense woodlands in the NW Province, and 22-36" of rain in the south central provinces.


Zambia has a large number of national parks scattered around the country, with typical African species such as Elephants, Hyenas, Hippos, Lions, Crocs, Wildebeasts, Leopards and a wide range of grazing animals. Kafue National Park (visible on the map above) is one of the largest national parks in Africa.
Incomes: GDP per capita is $3,500-$4,000 USD per year, with wide ranges of personal income between $150 and $400 per month, and vary by rural vs. urban areas and skill levels






In the Copperbelt Province, Warthogs, Bushbucks, Vervet monkeys, Duiker (a small antelope) and Bushbabies can be found in Miombo woodlands, forest reserves and wetlands near rivers.
